I am captivated by the smouldering wispy webs of a Raku firing. Like an ancient map to a forgotten world, the journey unfolds as the outer shell falls away.
This vessel is thrown on a wheel and raku fired. I use western-style raku involving removing the pots from the kiln while glowing red and placing it into a metal container with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. This process individualises the pieces. h110 mm x w90mm x d90mm
